The Can Taió sector occupies the free strip between the existing nucleus of Santa Perpetua and the ring road envisaged in the General Plan, which is to serve as the definitive boundary between the city and the agricultural and natural areas. In the proposed planning, this road – the Can Taió promenade – must complete the road network of the municipality and therefore serve for road traffic, but it is also understood as a linear urban park that runs along the entire facade of the sector and integrates pedestrian and bicycle paths.

The Can Taió promenade will therefore end up linking the Can Filuà sector in the north with the free space next to the railway line in the south, which will become part of the new central park of Santa Perpetua, which is being developed around the future new commuter train station; and with the Mas Costa neighborhood on the other side of the railroad. This road is complemented by a new urban boulevard that crosses the residential area of Can Taió and connects the various modes of mobility of the Can Taió promenade with the center of Santa Perpetua.

In defining the geometry and treatment of the sector’s boundary, special attention has been paid to preserving the natural space of the Polinyà stream, which runs tangent to it, and to preserving as little as possible the tree-lined path that used to link the town with the Can Taió castle, which will be recovered as a new route between the town and the countryside. These actions will mean the protection and enhancement of two of the most characteristic landscape and natural elements of the sector and of Santa Perpetua.
