TBS Education building in Barcelona
A new campus designed from collective spaces that encourages new teaching dynamics in contact with outdoor spaces and vegetation.
The school project in Tarragona is based on the division of the building's functional program into two different volumes: one on the ground floor plus two in which the classrooms, administration areas, teachers' offices, the library, the dining room and the kitchen, and another on one floor where the gym and changing rooms are located.

The main volume has a rectangular floor plan, measuring 79.90 m x 19.15 m and is located on the plot seeking to orient the infant education classrooms to the south and in turn align with the main access street. The entrance is located at the midpoint of the site to minimize the economic impact of earthworks. Access from the central hall allows an agile distribution of the different units. The gym is located, like an annexed building, in the northern part of the site, joined to the main building by a porch.
The building, thus raised, minimizes the economic impact of the facades and through its rational organization allows standardizing and prefabricating each and every one of its elements, both structural and constructive. The supporting structure is projected in precast concrete like the enclosures. The fenestration is designed in such a way that it adapts to the different orientations and at the same time facilitates the best and most adequate ventilation of the classroom.
The quality of the precast concrete enclosures did not require a final treatment on site. Even so, it was decided to add color in some parts of the building coinciding with the color choice of the interior. This decision, plus the graphic overprinted on the facades, characterize in a specific way a building that, out of typological respect, was intended to be as generic as possible.
