Llamas Park in Santander, protagonist of the new episode of the BBC’s “Spanish Gardens”

Monty Don, the well-known British horticulturist and presenter of “Spanish Gardens,” has echoed the awe that the integration of city and nature in the Llamas Park evokes in visitors, a project completed by Batlleiroig in 2008.

This expansive urban space represents the richness of the landscape and the diversity of vegetation found in the Atlantic climate, preserving and expanding a large wetland area through terraced slopes of vegetation that generate stairs, amphitheaters, and ramps. Monty Don celebrates the Llamas Park ability to embrace the wetland, which has recorded up to 150 different bird species.

The Llamas Park has been featured in the third chapter of the series, dedicated to the northern coast, which stretches from Santiago de Compostela to Bilbao, passing through the capital of Cantabria. Monty Don has been presenting on BBC’s “Gardeners World” for over 20 years, with more than two million followers. The program on the same network, “Spanish Gardens,” is a documentary series in which the presenter has traveled over 4,000 kilometers through parks and gardens in Spain.
