Roger Mermi takes part in the Barcelona Innova event
On 10 July, Roger Mermi, Principal Project Director at Batlleiroig, took part in a session organised by Barcelona Innova, an initiative of Barcelona City Council, held as part of the central exhibition of the UIA2026BCN Congress, at the Tres Xemeneies site in Sant Adrià de Besòs.
During the event, the two winning prototypes of the “Mineral. Architectures of Urban Mining” challenge were presented: Spolia, by Structural Xploration Lab EPFL, and Grounded Futures, by BC Materials, BC Architects and BC Studies. Their pilot projects will be launched in the coming months.
Both proposals explore new strategies for the reuse of waste generated in urban environments through innovative solutions in materials, methods and construction systems, helping to promote more circular and sustainable urban models.
Thanks to Barcelona Innova for the invitation, which provided an opportunity to continue exploring and advancing towards the creation of resilient cities capable of responding to new environmental and social challenges.
