Enric Batlle participates as a speaker in the presentation of the Porta Diagonal–Campus Clínic urban studies at the COAC
On Wednesday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m., the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) hosted the conference “Rethinking the Porta Diagonal-Campus Clínic: towards a new metropolitan centrality”, organized by the Centre Obert d’Arquitectura of the COAC.
The event aims to present the urban studies for the Porta Diagonal–Campus Clínic area, a key project for the transformation of a strategic metropolitan area where Barcelona, Esplugues de Llobregat, and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat converge.
The agreement for the location of the new Clínic-UB Health Campus on the grounds of the University of Barcelona, signed in January 2024, marks the beginning of a large-scale urban project that integrates infrastructure, university campuses, and high-level healthcare facilities —including the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and the UB and UPC campuses— with the goal of consolidating this area as a strategic hub of knowledge, science, and health.
Since April 2024, preliminary studies have been underway to draft the urban planning instrument that will redefine 70 hectares around the future campus and transform it into a new metropolitan centrality, based on principles of sustainability, inclusion, and dynamism.
The event featured Enric Batlle, Doctor of Architecture, director of the Landscape Master’s Program (MBLandArch) at ETSAB–UPC and founding partner of Batlleiroig, who participate as a speaker alongside Carles Crosas, Ioanna Spanou, and Isabel Tomé. The session be moderated by Bárbara Pons Giner, Director General of Barcelona Regional, and include institutional presentations by Sandra Bestraten, Eva Gimenez i Corrons, and Juan Echániz Sans.
