Landscape restoration of the Garraf Controlled Waste Landfill, featured in the CSCAE exhibition at UIA2026BCN

The landscape restoration of the Garraf Controlled Waste Landfill, one of Batlleiroig’s signature projects, was featured in the exhibition “Spanish Architecture: 30 Years in Transition 1996–2026” at the CSCAE Open Room, as part of the UIA 2026 Barcelona World Congress of Architects, which was on view until 2 July 2026 at the Disseny Hub Barcelona.

The exhibition brings together a selection of more than 200 representative works of Spanish architecture from the last three decades, showcasing the evolution of the discipline across different scales and territories. It offers a journey through three main areas —territory and urban design, building construction, and rehabilitation and heritage— highlighting an architecture committed to contemporary challenges.

The exhibition connects with the Congress theme, “Becoming. Architectures for a Planet in Transition”, presenting architecture as a discipline undergoing transformation and adaptation in response to new global challenges.

The inclusion of the Garraf project in this exhibition recognises an approach to architecture that understands it as a tool for transforming the environment, adapting to change, and creating healthier and more liveable places.
