Transformation of the B-23 motorway between Barcelona and the Llobregat river

The transformation of the B-23 into a civic road would allow the recovery of the urban relations that the motorway cuts along the 5 kilometers between the Cervantes park in Barcelona and the Llobregat avenue in Sant Joan Despí. This transformation would allow the extension of the Diagonal in the municipal terms of Esplugues de Llobregat, Sant Just Desvern and Sant Joan Despí to the Llobregat river.

A CIVIC WAY PROLONGING THE DIAGONAL AVENUE

It is proposed to maintain the capacity of the B-23 as a segregated road, but transforming its section to turn it into a civic road that extends the Diagonal, incorporating public transport systems and routes for pedestrians and bicycles that connect Barcelona with the Llobregat. The establishment of laterals on both sides of the B-23 and the global redesign of the section of the avenue would allow maximum connectivity both along the road and between the two now segregated bands.

The proposal could allow the global transformation of all its edges with the most appropriate solutions for each section depending on the urban characteristics of the different fabrics that it crosses. The transformation would have more constant unitary characteristics, but the possibility of incorporating individualized solutions appropriate to the problem of each section with specific coverings and burial in the places that require it.

FIVE AREAS OF TRANSFORMATION

The Diagonal Avenue would reach the Llobregat with 5 kilometers of an avenue that connects the territory and that would promote urban transformation from 5 development areas:

DIAGONAL – SANT JOAN DE DÉU

Located between Barcelona and Esplugues de Llobregat, it requires the transformation of the junction between the B-23 road and the Ronda de Dalt and would allow the extension of public transport and green connectivity.

DIAGONAL – ESPLUGUES

Located in the center of Esplugues de Llobregat, it requires the undergrounding of the B-23 to resolve the junction with Laureà Miró. It involves the creation of a large park on the B-23.

DIAGONAL – TV3

Located between Sant Just Desvern and Sant Joan Despí, it requires covering part of the B-23. Central square and door of Sant Just Desvern.

DIAGONAL – BELLAVISTA

Located in Sant Joan Despí, it requires the covering of part of the B-23 to create a large park on it.

DIAGONAL – LLOBREGAT

Located in Sant Joan Despí, it requires the burying of the B-23 to resolve the junction with the Vía Llobregat. It involves the creation of the Parc Diagonal Llobregat that will extend to the river.
