This new space designed by batlleiroig is located in a clearing in the middle of a native pine forest, delimited by a stone margin, forming an intimate area, collected and surrounded by nature, a fact that characterizes the entire cemetery, perfectly integrated into the surroundings of the Collserola Natural Park.
Since it was put into operation in 1984 with the first Roques Blanques grouping, also designed by batlleiroig, the cemetery has been consolidating itself as a benchmark, even on a European level. And it has done so by always following a sustainable management policy committed to the environment, in all the projects and services carried out. The new Butterfly Garden is an example: it is a space for gestational, perinatal and neonatal mourning that is fully integrated into the nature of the Collserola forest, where only the use of ecological urns is foreseen.
Following the same commitment to sustainability, Roques Blanques has developed several alternatives designed by batlleiroig pioneering in our country for the ecological destination of the ashes, such as the Forest of calm, the Family Trees, the Garden and source of rest or the Forest path, the latter recognized with the 2018 EMAS Awards.
