Iván Sánchez speaks at the COAC about rain as an ally of landscape construction
Iván Sánchez, chief of Landscape Department of Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, gave a talk the 27th September at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) about the influence of rain in the landscape construction. The company LafargeHolcim organized this conference directed by the architect Núria Polo, head of Prescription of this enterprise in Spain.
About 50 people attended to the speech given by the manager of Landscape Department of Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, Iván Sánchez, at the COAC, who based the beginning of his lecture on the uses that the water has had in landscape construction historically. Sánchez explained the change of paradigm that redirect the role that water plays in this area, which had the economic crisis as his principal inflection point. The chief of Landscape Department brought three objectives up related to this change: applying sustainable logic to use the water, coming back to the tradition and using water as the most important asset to strengthen biodiversity.

Iván Sánchez defended his lecture giving as examples sis different projects developed by Batlle i Roig, divided by paths and esplanades. According to the paths, Sánchez spoke about the path of Llobregat, in Sant Vicenç dels Horts; the cycle lane of Santa Pau, in La Garrotxa; and the Guixeres of Igualada, this last two, still in process. About the esplanades, the projects laid on the table were the entrance door to Roques Blanques cemetery, the green area of Finestrelles and the Viladecans The Style Outlets.
One of the conclusions of the lecture was that the main objective of the use of water as an ally of landscape construction has to be improving health and the quality of life of the citizens.
