DIANA CALICÓ, BUILDING ENGINEER DIRECTOR AT BATLLEIROIG, PARTICIPATES IN A ROUND TABLE ON THE GENDER ISSUE IN THE LABOR SCOPE IN 8TV
The Building Engineer Director at Batlleiroig, Diana Calicó, was one of the guests last Friday to join a round table at the 8tv magazine “La nit a 8tv”, on the experience of women in work environments that are commonly considered masculinized.
The fact that the new Spanish government is mainly made up for women was the starting point of this round table with three women from different professional fields around the role of women in the labor field. Together with Diana Calicó debated Carme Lluveras, basketball coach, and Judith Doral, an industrial and automatic electronic engineer, at a gathering hosted by the journalist Pol Marsà.
Diana Calicó gave her point of view on the vision of women in a quite masculinized environment such as construction, and said that “although there are many women in Batlleiroig, the construction site is a world of men: as workers, I’ve never seen a woman, construction technicians are usually men, but in recent years already there are some women”.
Another of the reflections of the Building Engineer Director at Batlleiroig was that, for a woman, the fact of working in such a masculinized world implies “having to constantly prove your worth”, until you get it, and then, “they respect you”.
