ENRIC BATLLE WILL BE PRESENT THIS WEDNESDAY AT THE URBAN REGENERATION FORUM 2018 ON PRODUCTIVE CITIES

The next 20th, 21st and 22nd of June, the BIA platform (Bilbao Bizkaia Architecture of the Delegation in Bizkaia of the Official College of Architects Basque Navarrese) organizes the Urban Regeneration Forum by BIA 2018, a biennial forum that this year will focus on the relationship between the productive economy and the urban fabric and entitled “Paisaia produktibo berriak / Nuevos paisajes productivos / Productive landscapes”.

Enric Batlle has been invited to participate in this forum that will gather outstanding professionals and researchers in urban regeneration in the Bizkaia Aretoa, and his presentation “Merging city and nature” will take place on the first day of the congress, on Wednesday, June 20th, at 9.55 am.

THE LOCAL MEDIA XVEC DEDICATES A WIDE REPORT TO THE URBANIZATION OF THE SANT IGNASI SQUARE IN MANRESA, BY BATLLEIROIG

The local media of Manresa XVEC has echoed the urbanization that our office has projected in one of the most emblematic squares of Manresa, the Sant Ignasi square, in the historic center of the city of the Bages region. 

The website explains that Batlleiroig is the firm in charge of the urbanization of this space, and it says that the offices “has left a remarkable impression conceptualizing the urban green, configuring a coherent and integrative proposal of the action with the space”.

THE NEW ESTADI JOHAN CRUYFF PROJECTED BY BATLLE I ROIG

On Monday, April 3, the project of the new Estadi Johan Cruyff, designed by our study, was presented.

The Espai Barça which will form the first part of the Ciutat Esportiva, FC Barcelona’s training center, will be a modern and efficient facility, with a capacity of 6.000 spectators. Upgraded to a Category 3 stadium, as defined by UEFA, will have sheltered tiers, visibility from all the seats, with an integrated 360º design to improve the atmosphere in the stadium and a parking lot of 600 spaces.

Its inauguration date will be expected to be during 2017/18 season.

THE BIKE LANE BETWEEN BARCELONA AND ESPLUGUES WILL BE FINISHED THIS 2017 AUTUMN

Last Thursday 6th of April, the intercity bike lane that we are building between Barcelona and Esplugues de Llobregat was on local News.

The lane, which is 4.5 meters wide in the narrowest stretches and is being constructed following sustainable criteria, is expected to be inaugurated at the beginning of this autumn. This bike lane, which will be bidirectional and will run along a pedestrian path, is the beginning of the pedestrian and cyclable connection between Barcelona and his metropolitan area, by trespassing big transport infrastructures, and opening a whole territory that until now it was unconnected.

ENRIC BATLLE LECTURES AT THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF DESIGN, HARVARD UNIVERSITY

This October 29, Enric Batlle participated in the symposium organized by the Urban Planning and Design Department of GSD-Harvard University in the framework of the exhibition “New Issues for the Future of the City: BARCELONA, METROPOLIS OF CITIES” curated by Joan Busquets, Full Professor at the Harvard GSD-and UPC.

In his speech, titled “Green as main structure for the City,” Enric Batlle highlights the new paths that Batlle i Roig Architecture is currently exploring for the Planning & Public Space development of Barcelona Metropolis.

The works for the Cicle Lane,

which will link Barcelona with Esplugues de Llobregat

have already begun.

The project, carried out by Batlle i Roig Arquitectes, has as main objective to merge Barcelona with the Baix Llobregat through a low aggressive intervention over the surroundings. An initiative that wants to promote sustainable transport, reduce pollution and promote the health of people.

The path, with 880 meters long, will start in Cervantes Park (Diagonal) and will consist in 100% bike friendly tracks which will combine differentiated spaces for pedestrians and bicycles.

This project is part of the action that will link the Diagonal of Barcelona with the Parc del Riu Llobregat through a civic path. Click here to see the project.

Batlle i Roig presented the proposal for the competition for design the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (Toronto)

On 16th March Batlle i Roig Arquitectes with Clément Blanchet Architecture  (Paris), RVTR  (Toronto) y Scott Torrance Landscape Architect  (Toronto) had presented the proposal with the title: “Jack Layton Ferry Terminal Park” in Toronto.

This week our proposal and the other four teams are presenting for public input. All five plans are available for viewing on Waterfront Toronto’s website and the City Hall until Friday. The final result will be on 20th March.

The other four competitors are: West 8 (Rotterdam), Diller and Scofidio (NY), Quadrangle Architects (Toronto) and Stoss architects (Boston).

On Thursday March 5 will start the 6th Workshop for the development of the New Urban Master Plan, a space where experts from the fields of Planning, Territory, the Ecology or the Urban Legislation, among other disciplines, reflections on the future the metropolitan area of Barcelona under the slogan: “The forms of metropolitan construction” generic weaves and unique places. New ways of living and working.

Batlle I Roig Arquitectes with Clément Blanchet Architecture (Paris), RVTR (Toronto) and Scott Torrance Landscape Architect (Toronto) are shortlisted at the Competition for design the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park (Toronto).

The goals to achieve are to create an inspiring vision for the long-term transformation of the Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park to be articulated in a Master Plan of 4,6 hectares, and also to develop a short-term landscape enhancement proposal.

THE CYCLE LANE BETWEEN BARCELONA AND ESPLUGUES, NEWS IN LA VANGUARD

The Municipal Mobility Commission approved last December, unanimously, the project to extend the cycle lane network between the neighborhoods and municipalities in the northern area of Barcelona.

Within this scope of action, Batlle i Roig Arquitectes will solve the current pedestrian discontinuity between Cervantes Park, northern boundary of Diagonal Avenue in Barcelona, and Avinguda dels Catalans in the municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat. During the last few days, this project has attracted the attention of citizenship for being a key point in the system of pedestrian connectivity of the area.
