And to reflect, together with the people who give life and meaning to architecture, about our relationship with the rural or urban environment.

‘The green beetle’ is the environmental program of Spanish Television, and the production focusing on environmental issues of greater repercussion and diffusion. With an always informative spirit, the program talks about biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, but also anthropology and how to fit a world that wants to be green within a modern and industrial society like ours.
On December 13, 2019 they issued the report ‘A symbiotic relationship’, with the participation of Enric Batlle. The report analyzed the behavior of the fauna of the city: which places it prefers and how should parks, gardens and streets be designed to favor their life in our cities.
“I think it is very easy to include proposals on recovering biodiversity, even maintaining the current economic processes that our cities have, it is only a matter of putting on the agenda that each action is also an action to promote biodiversity and this can occur in facades of office buildings, on roofs of residential buildings, in school facilities and anywhere we can be promoting better living conditions, biodiversity, conditions, making healthy spaces, making spaces cleaner.” — Enric Batlle
In addition to interviewing Enric Batlle on biodiversity issues, they visited the Finestrelles Park and were able to enjoy the sheep taking over the city, grazing in the middle of an urban environment.
“Sometimes it seems that we say that we like nature, but we would like a nature of photography, inert, that had no life processes, that was always wrapped in a bow and we said:”Nature”, but the real nature, the good one, it is in which the animals are free, in which the sheep take the city; that is our fight here.” — Enric Batlle
Finestrelles Park is a project that explores a new way of treating the limits of the Collserola Park, a linear park that combines the park’s native species and a large meadow with species from agriculture. Thanks to the use of this type of vegetation, a climatically adapted hydro park is achieved, which means that it will not need to be watered. The large meadow of agricultural species is a productive area that is not only self-sufficient but also generates food for animals.

The 2019 Yearbook is now available.
Yearbook 2019 is the summary of a year in which we have continued to grow, innovate and change.
We ended 2019 with a workforce of 115 workers —65% of female staff— and a record of turnover. With many projects in progress and the express will to continue INNOVATING to be able to give the appropriate response to each of the situations that arise. We intervened very actively in the 1st Catalan Summit on Climate Action and for this we prepared a text that explained our position in relation to CLIMATE EMERGENCY —Merging City and Nature— and which became the central object of our annual publication, the Yearbook.
This publication has been produced thanks to the joint effort of the entire Batlleiroig team. It is a sample of the road already traveled and of our daily commitment to the environment and to providing honest and rigorous solutions to the needs of our customers. It also shows the way forward, the future commitments already made in our usual fields of work and reveals the attitude of innovation and continuous improvement that we believe characterizes us.

In the article “Rem Koolhaas, a country man” by Babelia, Joan Roig analyzes the last theoretical proposal of the great Dutch architect, which led to his exhibition ‘Countryside. The Future’ at the Guggenheim in New York, where he proposes a return to the countryside.
“It is difficult to be objective with Rem Koolhaas. He is not only one of the great contemporary architects but also a shrewd analyst of the reality that surrounds us. His best texts —which, as happened to Robert Venturi and Aldo Rossi, tend to be better than their best buildings— have always helped architects to see beyond their noses and showed them what was happening in their environment before they could perceive it.”

And that somehow the baggage of these days will provide wisdom to alleviate the “climate emergency”. Although the contact, she believes, is irreplaceable: “The grace of going to the office is talking to the team and sharing things.”»

The CIT (Integral Transportation Center) is an initiative led by Metro de Madrid to build a new complex on the land occupied by the garages of line 1 on Asturias Avenue, in the surroundings of Plaza Castilla. The team Jardin 1 wins the contest and instructs Batlle i Roig for the landscaping part.
With the proposal of Jardín Metro, it is intended to recover a space for the use and enjoyment of citizens, making known and dignifying this heritage inherent to the city and which had been forgotten. Thus, the new public space brings the infrastructures, which have made Madrid a great capital, closer to its citizens, through a quality, modern, ecological and transparent exterior space, emblems that the company represents.
UrbanNext publishes an article on the cycling and pedestrian path, promoted by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), connecting the city of Barcelona with Esplugues de Llobregat.
“The new cycling path, a green corridor with pacified traffic, is a very charming and extraordinary space. Used for practical and recreational reasons alike, it is reminiscent of country lanes beyond the city limits and major road infrastructures, transforming a forgotten and neglected space into a meeting place and a source of urban continuity for the metropolitan community.”
The public entity Barcelona’s Metropolitan Area presents, in the Biennial of Architecture and Urbanisme of Seoul, the exposition Metropolis Barcelona, a sample of the works executed at the territorial sphere of the AMB and where our Gigafoto has a leading role.
Credits gigafoto: www.jordisurroca.com
“The Gigafoto represents with an only image our philosophy and our way to understand the territory: a seamless succession of different landscapes –from the parks, the streets or the balconies of the urban surroundings to the sea, passing for the rivers, the metropolitan parks, the Natural Park of Collserola or the Agrarian Park of the Llobregat- that construct the Metropolitan ecological matrix and form a system where the ecology, the leisure and the production are possible.”
