THE CEMETERY OF ROQUES BLANQUES, DESIGNED BY BATLLEIROIG, CHOSEN BY THE MOURNING AND LOSSES GROUP TO MAKE A TRAINING AND WORK SESSION
At the beginning of October, the Mourning and Losses Group of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia participated in a guided visit at the Roques Blanques Cemetery and the “Forest Road”, both designed by Batlleiroig. The group showed interest in these facilities because they present relevant spaces related to the grieving and loss processes, the topics on which their main activity revolves.

THE CENTRAL PARK OF IGUALADA, DESIGNED BY BATLLEIROIG, HAS WELCOMED THIS WEEKEND THE EUROPEAN BALLOON FESTIVAL
More than fifty hot air balloons flew over Igualada last week, from Thursday to Sunday, in the framework of the 22nd edition of the European Balloon Festival, the international ballooning competition and the European reference festival held annually in the capital of the Anoia.
As every year, the Central Park of Igualada, designed by Batlleiroig and located on Catalunya Avenue, has been the main stage of this event, which has brought together a total of 54 hot air balloons from a dozen countries, such as Mexico, India, Brasil, Israel, England, France, Italy, Switzerland or Belgium.
Moreover, this space has an extensive area of stands that Batlleiroig projected to facilitate the viewers could comfortably enjoy the festival, an objective that has also been achieved this weekend, since the attendance of public has been excellent.

‘THE FOREST ROAD’ IN THE ROQUES BLANQUES CEMETERY WINS THE CATALUNYA CONSTRUCCIÓ AWARD 2018 FOR INNOVATION
Batlleiroig has won the Catalunya Construcció 2018 Award for Innovation in Construction for its project ‘The Forest Road’ in the cemetery of Roques Blanques, in El Papiol. The awards, granted by the Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers, were delivered yesterday at the Auditorium of the University of Barcelona during the Construction Night. It is the second consecutive year that Batlleiroig wins this award: last year, it was won by The Style Outlets Viladecans.
‘The Forest Road’ consists of a grouping of burials in the Roques Blanques cemetery that redefines the traditional model of burials and cremations, applying criteria respectful with the environment and integrating it within the Natural Park of Collserola. To make it a reality, traditional dry construction systems and elements have been used, such as wood, sand and vegetation.
Four Batlleiroig projects have been shortlisted at the World Architecture Festival 2018 Awards, which will be delivered at the end of November in Amsterdam. The projects nominated to the WAF are the Stradivarius Headquarters, the SBGlow Hotel, the Scenic Path along the Former Gypsum Mines in Igualada and the new cruise terminal at the Barcelona harbor.
Batlleiroig is nominated in four categories of the WAF 2018 Awards, considered the most relevant architecture awards worldwide. Three of the finalist projects compete in the ‘Completed Projects’ section and they are the headquarters of Stradivarius, in the Offices category; the SBGlow Hotel, in Hotel and Leisure; and the new cruise terminal of Barcelona, HELIX Cruise Terminal, in the Transport category. On the other hand, in the section of ‘Landscape’, the Scenic Path along the Former Gypsum Mines in Igualada is also finalist, in the Rural category.
ENRIC BATLLE WILL BE PRESENT THIS WEDNESDAY AT THE URBAN REGENERATION FORUM 2018 ON PRODUCTIVE CITIES
The next 20th, 21st and 22nd of June, the BIA platform (Bilbao Bizkaia Architecture of the Delegation in Bizkaia of the Official College of Architects Basque Navarrese) organizes the Urban Regeneration Forum by BIA 2018, a biennial forum that this year will focus on the relationship between the productive economy and the urban fabric and entitled “Paisaia produktibo berriak / Nuevos paisajes productivos / Productive landscapes”.
Enric Batlle has been invited to participate in this forum that will gather outstanding professionals and researchers in urban regeneration in the Bizkaia Aretoa, and his presentation “Merging city and nature” will take place on the first day of the congress, on Wednesday, June 20th, at 9.55 am.
THE CIRCLE OF ECONOMY PUBLISHES THE VIDEO OF THE DEBATE AROUND THE LIMITS OF BARCELONA WITH ENRIC BATLLE, NÚRIA MARÍN, ORIOL NEL·LO AND LLUÍS RECODER
On June 7th, Enric Batlle participated in the round table “The limits of Barcelona”, within the framework of the conference series “Thinking Barcelona” organized by the Circle of Economy and Global Barcelona. Together with the founding partner of Batlleiroig, the mayor of L’Hospitalet, Núria Marín, the Geographer and Professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona Oriol Nel·lo, and the lawyer Lluís Recoder debated.
The Circle of Economy has published on its website a chronicle about the debate around “The limits of Barcelona”, in which the four speakers resolve that they are “inevitably diffuse” limits.
ENRIC BATLLE WILL PARTICIPATE IN A ROUND TABLE ON JUNE 7th TO RETHINK “THE LIMITS OF BARCELONA” IN THE CIRCLE OF ECONOMY
The Circle of Economy and Barcelona Global organize the cycle of conferences “Pensar Barcelona” (Thinking Barcelona), a series of sessions where professionals from different sectors of the city debate on what role the Catalan capital should acquire, in a world where cities are the main driving forces of change, progress, innovation and development. On June 7th, Enric Batlle will be one of the guests in the next session of this cycle, under the title “The limits of Barcelona”.
The Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the government of the island, has invited Enric Batlle to participate in the “Gran Canaria Landscape” conference, which will be held on April 19th and 20th at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium on the island.
The speech of Enric Batlle, entitled “Merging public space and nature”, will take place on the 19th April at 11.15am. Afterwards, a round table is planned with one of the speakers that morning, the architect Víctor Gouverneur, and also with the architects Elsa Guerra and Flora Pescador.
The purpose of these conferences is “to create a debate forum that provides solutions and proposals in order to improve the island territory with the contributions of architects, university professors, technicians, artists, geographers and businessmen from the tourism field”. The opening of the new pedestrian and cyclable lane between Barcelona and Esplugues has been done this morning, a lane that allows the connection for bikes and for pedestrians between Diagonal Avenue and the municipalities of Baix Llobregat, overcoming the obstacles posed by the two Rondas of Barcelona and the highway B-23.
Some of the authorities that have opened the lane today were Ramon Torra, Manager of the AMB; Antoni Poveda, Vice President of Mobility and Transport of the AMB and Mayor of Sant Joan Despí; Mercedes Vidal, Mobility Councilor of the Barcelona City Council; the mayors of Esplugues and Sant Just Desvern, Pilar Díaz and Josep Perpinyà, respectively; and different municipal councilors; in addition to the entire Batlleiroig team, with Enric Batlle and Joan Roig in the lead.

The district of Poblenou hosts this weekend the BCN Light Festival (February 16-18), a festival that illuminates artistically different points of interest in Barcelona. This edition, the festival will consist of a 4 kilometers route through the streets of the 22@ district. The mapping in the building of the CNMC, building designed by Batlleiroig, will be “Hypnocity” and it has been done by the Slidemedia studio. The SB Glow Hotel, on the other hand, is one of the establishments joining the festival.

IGUALADA OPENS A NEW SECTION OF THE GREEN RING AND THE MONSERRAT VIEWPOINT, DESIGNED BY BATLLE AND ROIG
On January 27th, Enric Batlle was one of the people in charge of inaugurating a new section of the Igualada’s Green Ring and the viewpoint of Montserrat, on the path of the old “guixeres” of Igualada, together with the Father Abbot of Montserrat, Josep Maria Soler, and the mayor of the town, Marc Castells. From the viewpoint you can see the entire municipality of Igualada and enjoy a privileged view of the Montserrat mountain.
The Josep Soler Vidal de Gavà Library (Plaça de Jaume Balmes) will host until February 28th the exhibition “Green Metropolis. Ecology, Leisure and Production”, curated by Enric Batlle. It’s an exhibition that highlights the great diversity of habitats and green spaces in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
Joan Roig has been invited by Arquitectura Viva to join the forum in architecture and design “Material architecture”, next Tuesday 6th February, in Valence (Spain), within the fair Cevisama (5th-9th February). The forum will also feature the participation of outstanding professionals from the sector, including two Pritzker prizes, Rafael Moneo (1996) and Eduardo Souto de Moura (2011).

Enric Batlle, one of our founding partners at Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, is one of the panelists of a round table about dynamic ecosystems, as part of the symposium “Responsive Cities”, promoted by the IAAC-Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, that will take place on 13th and 14th November in Barcelona.
Fira Barcelona, in Spain square, was where last week took place the 21st edition of Barcelona Meeting Point, the real estate meeting of the year at the city. In just five days (18th-22nd October), the fair offered the possibility of contacting the most relevant personalities of the real estate industry, meeting the best investment opportunities and learning from the last trends in real estate industry, among others.
Enric Batlle, one of our founding partners at Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, has been chosen as an honorable patron of the Social Board of Superior Council of the Architectural Colleges in Spain (CSCAE). In fact, on 27th September, he attended the Presentation Act organized by this institution as an Honorable Patron.

Iván Sánchez, chief of Landscape Department of Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, gave a talk the 27th September at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) about the influence of rain in the landscape construction. The company LafargeHolcim organized this conference directed by the architect Núria Polo, head of Prescription of this enterprise in Spain.
The World Architectural Festival is a contest that acknowledges the best pieces of architecture done every year around the world. The current edition, which is going to take place from 15th to 17th November in Berlin (Germany), the WAF2017 has recognized that Batlle i Roig Arquitectura has completed two architectural works well-deserving of a price in two categories: the Pull&Bear headquarter in Narón (La Coruña), nominated in the section of offices, and the Insect Hotel, in El Masnou (Barcelona), in the categories of display and small projects.
Under the motto “Cornellà Nature within the Green Metropolis“, the Cornellà de Llobregat City Hall and the Área Metropolitana de Barcelona have collaborated to communicate the Cornellà Natura municipal project, inscribed inside the values and challenges defined in the Green Metropolis exhibition, which highlights the importance of ecological, social and economic values, and their coexistence with ecology and urban leisure.
MIPIM, the world´s leading property market will celebrate a new edition at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, from the 14th until the 17th of March. Enric Batlle, representing Gina Barcelona Architects, will lead a conference titled “Barcelona, merging public space, nature and production”. The conference will take place on Wednesday March 15th at 5PM at the Barcelona Catalonia Stand.
This October 29, Enric Batlle participated in the symposium organized by the Urban Planning and Design Department of GSD-Harvard University in the framework of the exhibition “New Issues for the Future of the City: BARCELONA, METROPOLIS OF CITIES” curated by Joan Busquets, Full Professor at the Harvard GSD-and UPC.
In his speech, titled “Green as main structure for the City,” Enric Batlle highlights the new paths that Batlle i Roig Architecture is currently exploring for the Planning & Public Space development of Barcelona Metropolis.

We are pleased to share that Batlle i Roig Arquitectes will take part in the 15th Biennale di Architettura di Venezia. You will find our projects exhibited in Central Pavilion, curated by Alejandro Aravena and also in the Catalan Pavilion, an exposition curated by Jelena Propljević, Jaume Prat and Isaki Lacuesta, and organized by Institut Ramón Llull.
Today 18.02.2016 l’Albert Gil, Partner & Building department Director of Batlle i Roig, shows at BIM SUMMIT 2016 Barcelona our Molins de Rei Highschool project, entirely designed with BIM (Autodesk Revit).
Molins Highschool is a pilot project for Infraestructures.cat, that will stablish the basis for the future contests of the Public Catalan Promoter. The conference is focused in describing all processes and coordinated works between Batlleiroig and the other engineering companies implicated in this project: STATIC Ingenieria & PGI engineering.

Enric Batlle will participate on November 11th at the symposium “Biophilic cities. Regenerate the city through renaturation. Strategies, tools and management for biocity”. Organized by the CUIMPB Barcelona – Centre Ernest Lluch and directed by Carles Llop, architect, doctor, teacher Urbanism DUOT, ETSAV-UPC and Eloi Juvillà, Service Equipment and Public Space architect, Barcelona Provincial Council.
The paper, under the slogan “Experience: biodiversity, landscape and city project” opens a panel discussion with various personalities from the sector.
Our project for Ciutadella Sports Center has been awarded the IAKS Gold Medal 2015, a price awarded by the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities to the most important sports buildings of 2013-2015.
This weekend (24th – 25th October) it is posible to visit the CNMC headquarters,
old CMT, on 22@, within the framework of the festival 48H OPENHOUSE BCN.
During this two days an architect from our office will guide
the visitors through all the building.

Batlle i Roig Arquitectes will be one of the speakers at the second edition of BAU Congress China, scheduled to take place in Beijing on June 23 and 24, 2015. The main theme this time is “Smart architecture and construction for China”. Our office will present some projects and experiences related with landscape architecture design.
BAU Congress China is an annual congress and accompanying exhibition that focuses clearly on high-quality building design, planning and construction for Chinese market. Together with well-known partners like Fraunhofer BAU, Bauverlag, and Archi-Europe, BAU Congress China provides high quality topics and world class speakers.

A Conference, with Landscape and Metropolitan urban environment as connecting thread, will be imparted for the curriculum in Landscape Architecture of the PhD in Architecture, University of Florence; a program sponsored by the Department of Architecture, in collaboration with the Master of Science in Landscape Architecture and Master in Landscape.
The Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture Chicago has invited us to participate in the exhibition organized under the theme ”Dialogues on Urbanization: Emerging Landscapes” with our Garraf’s Landfill Landscape Restoration project.
An initiative of IIT Dean, Wiel Arets, and part of the prestigious Master of Landscape MLA of this university.
The exhibition acknowledges the work of the most influential landscape designers on the international scene and is organized under 11 categories that reflect the challenges facing us in what they call the “Age of Planetary Urbanization.”
The opening also featured the lecture of Adrian Geeuze, Co-founder West8, Rotterdam.
On Thursday March 5 will start the 6th Workshop for the development of the New Urban Master Plan, a space where experts from the fields of Planning, Territory, the Ecology or the Urban Legislation, among other disciplines, reflections on the future the metropolitan area of Barcelona under the slogan: “The forms of metropolitan construction” generic weaves and unique places. New ways of living and working.

Tomorrow, February 10, Enric Batlle will participate in the debate “City, territory. Territory City” organized by the Department of Planning and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Landscape Observatory and the Institut d’Estudis Catalans.
This event is organized around the exhibition “Catalunya Ciutat(s)” which opened last December 23 at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, in which we have participated, and is part of a conference series whose mission is to explore the relationship between cities and the territory that receives them.
This event will feature a lecture by Mr. Agustín Serra, Director General of Planning and Urban Development, and a subsequent roundtable by Mr. Francisco Muñoz, Mr. Albert Cortina and Mr. Enric Batlle.
The event will take place at the Pere i Joan Corominas Chamber of IEC, at 19h.
Today Albert Gil, Batlle i Roig Arquitectes partner, participated in the opening ceremony of the European BIM Summit Barcelona 2015, with the paper “Bim: design to work”.
The technical conference, organized by the Association of Surveyors of Barcelona, the BIM Academy, sponsored by the Roca Barcelona Gallery,
aims at enhancing the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) through the experience of teams which are a reference in different areas of the construction sector.
This initiative will bring together those in the construction sector with the aim of disseminating and promoting the implementation of BIM model decision-makers in Europe.

The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture has invited Enric Batlle to lecture at their Fall Series 2014.
Next November 12, Enric Batlle is closing the UTSOA Fall Season Series of Speaks with a Lecture under the title “The garden of the metropolis”, where he will reveal the stories behind his most recognized Landscape Works.

The Restoration of Garraf Waste Landfill project has been selected in order to represent Catalonia at Venice’s 14th Architecture Biennal, during the exhibition Grafting Architecture, Catalonia at Venice, curated by Josep Torrents and organized by the Ramon Llull Institute.
The Exhibition aims to describe the 16 Catalan Architecture Projects within the argumental concepts of Process and Perception. Understood by themselves and its singularities, not by belonging to a specific architectural movement.
The opening will start on June 5, 18.30hrs and the exhibition period goes from June,7 to November,23 at San Pietro di Castello, Venice.
