THE PROVISIONAL URBANIZATION OF CAN BATLLÓ OBTAINS THE DESIGN FOR ALL FOUNDATION ‘GOOD PRACTICE’ AWARD

The Design for All Foundation has awarded to the provisional urbanization of Can Batlló projected by Batlleiroig the ‘Good Practice 2017′ certification, within the framework of the International Design for All Foundation Awards 2018. The foundation grants this seal to those projects and services that not only generate economic, social and environmental benefits, but also improves the life quality of all its users and meet their needs, in addition to taking into account the participation of citizens in the design process.

Projects classified as ‘Good Practice’ must meet the features of the “design for all” concept promoted by this foundation, that is demonstrate that it is respectful of the diversity of all its users so that no one feels marginalized, healthy, safe, functional, understandable, sustainable, affordable and attractive.

The Insects Hotel, ‘Highly Commended’ project at WAF 2017

We are very happy at Batlleiroig: the Insects Hotel design by our office at Vallmora’s park, in El Masnou, has been proclaimed ‘Highly Commended’ project at the World Architecture Festival 2017, which has taken place last week in Berlin. Our delegates at WAF were Joan Roig, Joan Batlle and Clàudia Amías.

Atlantic Park of santander, candidate for “most innovative contemporary garden” at the EUROPEAN GARDEN AWARDS 2016

Our Atlantic Santander Park project has been selected to qualify for the  EUROPEAN GARDEN AWARDS 2016  in the category “Most Innovative Contemporary Park.” The awards are granted by the European Garden Heritage Network – EGHN, based in the German region of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The ceremony will be held during the 09th September in the stunning monumental site Schloss Dyck, a complex of about 1000 years old. Considered one of the most important cultural monuments of the Lower Rhine, boasts a XVIIC castle surrounded by nineteenth century gardens of great landscape value, and by a Contemporary Theme Gardens hosting all kind of events for stakeholders and experts in the landscape.

The Schloss Dyck Fundation manages heritage and cultural initiatives of the Complex, and is a reference center for the development of European Landscape. It was founded in 1999 and since then is dedicated to the conservation, restoration and use of the lands of the old castle, promoting professional exchange regional, national and international and the promotion of its many parks and gardens as a “Centre of Garden Art and Landscape Design.”

BATLLE I ROIG WINS THE BARÇA MINIESTADI CONTEST

Today, 26th May  has been held the presentation of “Espai Barça, a year of work” in the 1899 Auditorium, where it has been presented the new Project for Miniestadi designed by Batlle i Roig Architects.

The contest aims to locate the new Miniestadi facilities within the Joan Gamper Sports Complex in Sant Joan Despi. Facilities which need to held more than 6000 spectators, which is technologically innovative, with a high level equipment and, above all, which reflect the values of the club.
The second FCB football team will start the 2017-18 season at the Miniestadi: is scheduled to start the construction at January 2016 and the inauguration of Miniestadi will coincide with the start of the season.

Batlle i Roig presented the proposal for the competition for design the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (Toronto)

On 16th March Batlle i Roig Arquitectes with Clément Blanchet Architecture  (Paris), RVTR  (Toronto) y Scott Torrance Landscape Architect  (Toronto) had presented the proposal with the title: “Jack Layton Ferry Terminal Park” in Toronto.

This week our proposal and the other four teams are presenting for public input. All five plans are available for viewing on Waterfront Toronto’s website and the City Hall until Friday. The final result will be on 20th March.

The other four competitors are: West 8 (Rotterdam), Diller and Scofidio (NY), Quadrangle Architects (Toronto) and Stoss architects (Boston).

Batlle i Roig Arquitectes, shortlisted at the competition for design the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (Toronto)

Batlle I Roig Arquitectes with Clément Blanchet Architecture (Paris), RVTR (Toronto) and Scott Torrance Landscape Architect (Toronto) are shortlisted at the Competition for design the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park (Toronto).

The goals to achieve are to create an inspiring vision for the long-term transformation of the Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park to be articulated in a Master Plan of 4,6 hectares, and also to develop a short-term landscape enhancement proposal.

The other four competitors are: West 8 (Rotterdam), Diller and Scofidio (NY), Quadrangle Architects (Toronto) and Stoss architects (Boston).
