CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIU DE LA GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA
The new administrative Campus of the Generalitat de Catalunya is located within the Fira2000 urban complex, in the City of Barcelona. The complex has a building area of 40,300 m2 and a total floor area of 58,587 m2, and is designed to house all the councils of the Generalitat de Catalunya under an administrative concession system.
The complex has been designed to obtain workspaces of the highest quality; an avant-garde architecture focused on offering a high-class office building. The building is also characterized by its design focused on achieving maximum energy efficiency achieving its highest value in energy certification: LEED PLATINUM; efficiency that will be maximized in connecting to the district’s eco-energy network.
It is the first building in Catalonia that has achieved the LEED PLATINUM certification and also the WELL certification, which measures in a very exhaustive way the welfare of the users.
The complex is organized from two volumes of 5-6 floors on a common base that occupies the whole lot and joins the two office buildings. This plinth communicates the two main accesses of the building as an interior street, generating a welcoming space of open character and great representativeness. The space between the two volumes intended for offices is designed as a garden that functions as an outdoor campus. The configuration of the facades is conceived as a double skin that offers sun protection adapted to each orientation and easy maintenance and cleaning of the glass, while maximizing the visual relationship with the exterior.
The common base covers common uses and customer service, including meeting rooms, an auditorium-press room and a restaurant-cafeteria that communicates directly with the interior garden. The plants of the two upper volumes are all identical, with a constructed area of 3,315 m2 each, configured with a high degree of flexibility and efficiency to offer maximum versatility in their possible distributions. All the floors have optimal natural lighting conditions and views, allowing achieving the best comfort conditions in the different work spaces.
